Feeding your Orchids

It’s often thought that orchids live on air. Some people call them air plants but this is very misleading. Orchids are surface dwellers. They grow on the surface of trees, rocks, and the ground, As well as in the ground. Orchids have a symbiotic relationship with beneficial fungi, known as mycorrhizal fungi, which allows the seed to germinate and provide sugar for the development of the plant and has a lifelong relationship with the fungus. Growing orchids at home or in your greenhouse, there is no fungal relationship. Since there’s no fungal relationship, we need to provide food to our orchids. All orchids are living things and all living things need food to grow and develop, just like us. A well balanced diet provides the healthiest individual. A weakly, weekly feeding regimine is ideal for feeding your plan. We have, over the years, used Dyna-gro products; specifically Foliage pro and Bloom. The foliage pro helps grows leaves and bloom makes roots. We carry these products at our shop.
