Gina Victor and Mickey Carnell
are the owners of Blue Pagoda and
Evolution Orchids. They came from Ohio
in June, 2003 with business partner
Matt Richards, who has since left the business.
Gina graduated from Ohio State University in
1998 with a bachelors in Psychology
and then went on to get her Elementary
Education Teaching Certificate from Wright
State University. She substituted while in
school and then taught special education
for a year before venturing on to Florida to
embark on this new business.
Mickey graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelors in Plant Health
Management. While in school, he was an intern with Matt Richards where they
propegated orchids and sold their flasks on their e-bay store. After he graduated,
he and Matt became business partners and started Evolution Orchids. They did
this until May 2003, when Mickey, Gina and Matt packed up their belongings
and headed south to Florida to take over the Blue Pagoda.
It has now been five years since they took over and the business has steadily
grown ever since. Blue Pagoda was awarded "Small Business of the Year"
for 2005 from the local Chamber of Commerce. Gina and Mickey strive to always
have new and different blooming and non-blooming orchids available.
Mickey and Gina sold their building in September, 2008 and now run their
