Gina Victor-Carnell and Mickey Carnell
Owners of Blue Pagoda and Evolution Orchids.
We came from Columbus, Ohio in June, 2003 to Englewood, Fl. to take over the Blue Pagoda.
Gina graduated from The Ohio State University in 1998 with a bachelors in Psychology and then went on to get her Elementary Education Teaching Certificate from Wright State University. She substituted while in school and then taught special education for a year before venturing on to Florida to embark on this new business.
Mickey graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelors in Plant Health Management. While in school his internship involved helping propagate orchids. He later co-founded an orchid flasking business with partner, Matt Richards, called Evolution Orchids. He did this until May 2003, when Gina, Mickey and Matt packed up their belongings and headed south to Florida to take over the Blue Pagoda. Matt Richards left the partnership in 2006 to pursue a career at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.
It has now been two decades since they took over and the business has steadily grown ever since. Blue Pagoda was awarded “Small Business of the Year” for 2005 from the local Chamber of Commerce. Gina and Mickey strive to always have new and different orchids available as well as be the best wedding/event florist in the area.
